Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi All

My washing machine won't drain - anyone know a good local handyman that would come and fix it.

Thanks

George

Check filter. Usual cause is a coin stuck in the outlet.

If the drain of the machine is plumbed in, the problem could be a blockage in the fitting which joins to the main drain pipe - we had this a few weeks ago.

Hi All, just to jump on George's bandwagon, could said reccomended handyman also drill holes in walls for TV aerials? If so please could I have contact details??! Thank you neighbours!!

Thanks all. Used GLS as per other thread. V good

Hi George, could you let me know what GLS is? Is it a handyman? If so can I have details? Many thanks! Ali

Often when the machine won't drain, it is because the drain hose (which often empties into the U-bend beneath the kitchen sink) is not correctly positioned. The hose outlet from the machine is close to the floor, then it goes up, makes an inverted-U shaped bend, goes down towards the inlet to the pipework beneath the sink where the water goes out. If that inverted-U bend gets moved, flattened, then water will just drain back into the machine from the pipework under the sink. Or, of course, as someone else suggests, could be blockage in the filter. Or, something jamming the titchy little pump that drains the water from the machine and pushes it along the pipe.
