Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi - I've looked for but not found, advice on who is actually the fastest broadband provider on the ladder.

I will spare the details but like many others i'm sure, i've chopped and changed and am doing so again but really want to know any experiences of BT INFINITY (this new, apparently superfast BT line). I am with Virgin and on the very very best moments can get up to 9Mbps but often it's down at about 4.

Sorry to be geeky but lots of the variables about internet speeds are local, and companies just give you the same old same old...ALL the time. 'Oh you'll only get X speed with Y company if you change to them...' etc...  Even the 'compare' site samknows is a bit ambiguous - so best to ask people who actually have the services!!

so WHAT IS THE FASTEST INTERNET YOU CAN GET ON THE LADDER?!

Thanks this is really helpful. Are you on the ladder? The virgin feedback resonates. I sometimes get verging on 10 but have never actually got 10. averages around 7. it MAY be that I can 'upgrade' on virgin but to be honest I've had such a bumpy ride and its SO inconstant, often going down, that I feel like a fresh start. what i may do is beg BT to put my hub up in my office so I can be attached by cable. i do think that 16 on direct cable vs only 4 by wifi seems like it might be a signal thing..? i want to give BT a go, but any more experiences welcome.

We've had BT Infinity all this year and it seems great (Frobisher on the Ladder), went down once one morning for an hour or two but otherwise no issues at all. Our previous one (can't remember which) often lost connection and had to mess about switching router off/on etc. I just tried a few speed test sites, http://www.thinkbroadband.com, http://www.speedtest.net, http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ and they say 38mbps 27mbps 29mbps download, 12mbps, 10mbps, 10mbps upload, thats connected with wifi from 2nd floor to the hub under the stairs on the ground.

Been with plusnet since tuesday. Massively impressed so far. Just done test online and got 30mb download and 14.4mb upload. That's over wifi and not in same room as router. We live on hewitt.

I definitely recommend you switch, although be aware that set up can take a couple of weeks. Also beware that you may well have a notice period on your current virgin deal.

good luck
