Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

In order to encourage people to start using the food waste bins, Veolia have pledged to provide 6 months worth of free bags for the caddies. Mine were delivered two weeks ago. Very kind of them although I already recycle food waste so its a reward rather than an incentive to start. Three questions

1. Have you received your bags?

2. If not, were you aware that you were entitled to them as part of the changes?

3. If you didn't recycle food waste, will this help you or are there other barriers to you beginning to recycle food?

Incidentally, food waste is composted and given back to the community at regular intervals in free give aways and donations to community growing projects, so it is a sustainable and useful part of the recycling arrangements and a continuation of a tradition that began with World War 2's Tottenham Pudding

We did get our quota delivery - amused that they only just fit the indoor kitchen caddy, at a stretch!

We've not had any - are they given out on recycling? Where are they left, maybe we missed them?

I got mine on Seymour Road. They were posted through letter box with information on change to refuse collections.

Yes, I got mine. They fit perfectly into the caddy that I got from Haringey ages ago. Perhaps they don't fit caddys that come from other sources. I got two packages of these compost bags. I remember seeing them on neighbour's doorsteps on Beresford as well.

My Veolia collection this week was exactly as per the schedule in the leaflet that was delivered with the compost bags and dry recycling bin a few weeks ago.

No, we didn't get ours.

Also our collection seems to be a bit erratic. Recycling wasn't collected this week on the day scheduled but a day later.
But we are very happy with the bigger recycling bin, not so important anymore for them to come on time.
We are less likely to run out of space.
We got ours and we've started food recycling again. We stopped a few years ago after a disturbingly maggoty experience, but we'll make it work this time. I'm going to buy a chi-chi worktop composter as an incentive!

Magotty !!!! Yuck. I gave up recycling food after they stopped picking it up. When their biodegradable bags ran out I got new ones from supermarket and then it wasn't picked up. A few months later I discovered they would only accept their own biodegradle bags. I think that has changed now though.

The blub originaly suggested we would get 6 months worth. We got two packs which might last us 2 months, 3 at the outside.

Has anyone found a cheap source of these things, they are really expensive.
