Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Great idea , I wonder if we could convince Haringey to have a go.

check out this link, it's a bbc item about an iphone app they have in Lewisham that lets you take a picture with an address attached and send it straight to the council dept who's job it is to sort it out.

See the thread here, Brin.

Boris Johnson has taken-up Lewisham's scheme as Love Clean London. Which is also being backed by Veolia, Haringey's new waste contractor.

That looks great Brin. Thanks for the link I had't seen it before. Have you tried it?

Thanks Alan.

I've just downloaded the lovecleanlondon app and I'll try it out as soon as I have a reason too.

Have you had any success with it?

I don't have a mobile, Brin - iPhone or otherwise. (For this reason).

I plod on with my old-fashioned, last century desktop machine. And though I've used it to send some reports through Love Clean London I've no way of testing whether it currently works as well or better than Haringey Council's Report-a-Problem page.

But I'm optimistic as Veolia are committed to making a success of this system. Most important, if the iPhone app makes it quicker and easier for you and other people to report dumping etc, then even better!

Liz may have a comment as she was trialling LoveCleanStreets for the Community Volunteers group.
* A bit OT* I think I understand why you don't have a mobile Alan.. I lost my iPhone recently when a canoe I was in sunk :o) The first few days were hell .. but now it's so peaceful..
We were trialling it but I wasn't overly impressed with it on a first use. I found that the Haringey Report a Problem site, or even Fix My Street, were quicker in getting responses to problems for Haringey council than LCS. However, that was only a trial and it may be that the systems have evolved to speed the processing of information up, especially as Veolia is backing it (not sure Enterprise ever got to grips with it). I do think apps that allow quick and easy reporting of problems are a great idea, however, and hope that their development will encourage lots more people to get involved in keeping the neighbourhood spick and span. Now, if I can just get an app that allows me to trace *which* of our local charmers dumps mattresses and bedbases outside an Infants school, I'd be happy.
