Nobody benefits from the introduction of these cards
Help stop this doomed government's last spiteful act.

I already signed last week. This is very important, please sign.
Have already done mine, hopefully with enough objection the scheme will fail.
The Blair creature seemingly has his tendrils in this useless government and its effete leader.
Done! No right thinking person of.any political persuasion could think this is a good thing.
Done, maybe twice, but. . .who knows! 🙃
25 of the 27 EU member states have mandatory ID cards. Maybe they know something we don't.
IMO It is a total nonsense to say that there are no benefits from having a national ID card. In principal, a free and secure national ID card system is a good thing--->Less well off people who don't have the means to pay from increasingly expensive passports, those who do not have a driving permit, bank account card or work ID or utility bills, etc, etc, etc, will have a legally, nationally accepted, secure means of PROVIING ID. A credit card-sized ID can also be easily carried around in your pockets to be used at any moment for this.
If you are worried about the privacy issues then just think that you are already being spied on by being online, where most of your data and actions are tracked; and also by having a mobile phone on your person where that is also tracked and all your use is recorded by the apps we all use, or by driving in your car where your no. plates enable tracking of your car around the place, public space cameras and Ring cameras on the doors on the streets where you live are taking photos and videos of you when you pass by....
ID cards would éliminate all those pseudo-légal private means of proving ID. And who knows what data they keep on you and monetize. Democratic governments may have their faults but I trust them more than I do those private companies.
I no longer live in the UK as I have returned to France where ID cards are issued free to all and they make life easier than when I lived in the UK. Just ONE card (or its équivalent for non-nationals) that everyone has - no fumbling around with all those other things mentioned above - and that people can't refuse to accept on some whim!
The Starmer government may be doomed or spiteful but please weigh up the many advantages of having an ID card system against any downsides. Anti-Starmer-government emotional pavlovian reflexes and hanging on to romantic, outdated ideas about freedom or privacy really don't cut it.
You can have it then.
I just can't figure what all the fuss is about. And I expect I'll be lambasted for stating that! I'm on Facebook, Instagram, I have a driving license, I use Google maps, I have an NI number, I have an NHS number, I have a passport, I use an NHS App, Strava, Train Pal, Nectar, Tesco, M&S and TFL Apps, plus many others!! I think everything I do, think, participate in, my religion and politics are all being monitored and tracked - if anyone is sufficiently interested...
