Has anyone else driven behind Wood Green Shopping City to be met with a speed hump only the height of Kilimanjaro?
This is getting ridiculous. Not only is it that high but they have also narrowed the turning. This is getting ridiculous.

Who hasn’t tried to cross the road at the corner only to have to jump back due to some moron approaching with their foot on the floor?
I would agree C that the on/off ramp on Mayes road is steeper than most. This doesn't seem to deter some drivers, probably folk who don't own the vehicle they're driving, as evidenced by the engine scrapes visible on the pedestrian crossing- classic indications of speeding, even with the traffic calming...
I think I'd cycle over that with ease and in comfort.
Personally I would introduce speed cameras. Unfortunately there will always be idiots driving like morons. I myself drive slow and sensibly, and I've always had idiots beeping, flashing etc because even with speed humps they see it as a mission to drive as fast as they can over them or speed up and then slow down until they reach the next set of humps.
I road-tested this today ('well, I had to go to the Recycling Centre, Your Honour') and as C and EMC2 note, it is the highest and steepest speed table I've ever come across (Beemer and Merc drivers with low-slung front air dams will grit/grate their teeth if the audio doesn't drown the grating).
It's fair in local speed-reduction terms given it's a crossing point, but I do wonder what the consequences would be if on a wet night an unobservant driver approaches at excessive speed.
Except they never should have...
No one should be speeding around that corner, end off. However there shouldn't be a zebra crossing smack bang on a corner/bend. I am all for safety and the environment however this is just taking the biscuit.
I'm talking about the one on the Road of Iceland and opposite Shopping City
A crossing between two places where people need to cross seems a sensible place to have one
The Council agree that the ramps to the speed table need the gradient reducing to enable a smoother transition for vehicles, and are currently planning these works to take place before the end of June. Watch this space
