Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Has anyone else noticed of late that there is a plume of restaurant smoke accumulating over the mid section of Pemberton and Mattison roads. Usually just over South Harringay School? I know that this is a common complaint in the neighbourhood but I have noticed it is far more pronounced, permanent and noxious than ever before, leading me to believe that it may be one of the restaurants in the area possibly lacking the required filtering systems?

It is very concentrated - to the point where one can smell what is being cooked, and tends to 'hover' over said area - one can tell that the air quality changes by going up and down the ladder streets.

Yes, this must be the case.
When I occasionaly went by these restaurants during the past 18 months, glancing in the window all seemed closed and empty. Obviously the fad is fast fading.
It doesn't take too much imagination to think they might go the same way as Indian restaurants which were always a short term flash in the pan and are rarely seen nowadays.

I've been told that another (beef) kebab vendor has opened up in the kiosk next to the entrance of the East side of the Shopping City. Apart from being in close proximity to Crystal, Kervans, Doner Daddy, Nivan and Capitol, this is what the area badly needs.

And here’s Selale spewing toxic smoke non stop tonight. I also have video but can’t be bothered to upload it

Passed it yesterday, seems on pavement next to centre. Wonder if it has a Trading Licence ?

Not aware they can trade without a Licence , or Eighty of locals to object

What is the current Borough Regulations on Charcoal users ?

So no new Pope then?

No but I have it on good authority white smoke is billowing out elsewhere on the grand parade!

Years ago I run a Air Gun club in Hertford. Was a corporate Shot gun club. They use to burn used shotgun cartridges. Which did not smoke but you could smell burn't plastic. One day wind blew fumes a few hundred metres down road. To a retirement home. Where they set of Air Alarms. Resulting in Environmental Services, visiting ground, as gates was open discovering smouldering pits. Which resulted in a Court case and a very large fine for Owners

I am sure that Haringey Services have the powers to stop reduce or get them to fit filters

They tried, but they wanted them washed and sorted

And there was not enough water pressure on site. Plus lack of wash off drainage

They was being skipped away but prices rised. When he decided to bury them then burn them. Until it set of Homes Air filter alarms.

Believe after case they have to show they are legally disposed of

This is Harringay OnLine. Not Hertford OnLine. Stick to the geography, eh.

Shotgun cartridge burning: not an issue in Harringay and is utterly irrelevant to the kebab restaurant smoke issue. Another off-topic swelling of server use.

"I have it on good authority", wrote kotkas.

"That's an interesting colloquialism", I thought.   So looked it up in a dictionary.
"... used for saying that your information comes from someone you trust."
That brought to mind another old saying.  One which has occasionally served me well:

"Believe nothing of what you hear, and only half of what you see."
