Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all,

After real improvements in recent years, over the last month or so there has been a really serious increase in incidents and antisocial behaviour on West Green Road, all centred around Tesco/Atakan food centre area. Big cars driving up to shop with blaring stereos until 5am or past, clearly drunk driving, fights, shouting & screaming, and also Nitrous Oxide being consumed in massive quantities on the main road and the side roads around here!

Last night there was a massive fight outside in the street, followed by a couple of guys coming back with big machetes about half hour later! It moved on elsewhere, so no idea how it ended, as figured it was bed time at that point!

Anyone else local to us noticing this, and got any ideas why everything has got so much worse recently?

Don’t it I live right near it’s scary

This virus has bought out more trouble in different ways

I don't think this is just about that. Yes seeing a bit more crazy behaviour around generally, but something else is contributing here I believe.

Definitely something you should raise with your councillors. It's on the borders of West Green and St Ann's wards. So you have six to choose from.

Will do. Not entirely sure what action they can/will take, but something needs to be done.

They will link in with the appropriate people in the Council and with the police. If they take no action immediately, keep at them. In West Green, you have Seema Chandawani who’s generally pretty responsive.

Happens around Sandlings / Lymington Ave N22  most early Hours

Seems to be a thing these days

Loud music and screaming

At least I have seen blue lights and Police cars in area and Police Helicopter hovering above

I got talking to someone who lives in The Sandlings, his neighbour runs some sort of takeaway business and the family and friends run delivery scooters from there 24/7. I'm not saying that is the problem but it will still add to the general disruption.

Can not believe the ever growing number of Scooter delivery riders in Wood Green

Had several near misses with them riding along footway and against the One way system in Whymark Avenue

So much for Labour's Cry that Haringey is a poor area. When so many seem to live of Fast Food Deliveries

Even in the early Hours when most firms are not normally open

Lockdown....no pubs, clubs, gyms, etc avaialble for venting physical and psychological energy. No t an excuse for hodlum activity though.

The west green councillors are pretty good. I would suggest speaking to them as a first.

if that doesn’t work, if enough people complain to the police they do start to do a few things.
