Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

From the BBC this morning, Haringey rank as the borough with the 8th largest amount from parking fines and fees at £14.6m.

As the RAC says we should be asking how this is spent, I believe it cannot be absorbed into 'normal' expenditure, but it must be spent on the borough's road transport network...

Top 10 councils in England with the largest parking operations surplus:

  1. Westminster £73.2m
  2. Kensington and Chelsea £32.1m
  3. Camden £26.8 m
  4. Hammersmith and Fulham £23.1m
  5. Brighton and Hove £21.2m
  6. Wandsworth £20.5m
  7. Islington £19.1 m
  8. Haringey £14.6m
  9. Hackney £14.5m
  10. Hounslow £12.0m

Thanks for getting involved Zena. I'm sure Tfl will have loads of footage from the bus dash cams. It would be really easy to build a case. Every time I have passed that van there is nothing in the back.
I don't care if they make money as long as they do good things with it. Improvements to the cycle network would be a start. I don't cycle but even as a pedestrian/fast pedestrian (runner) I can see that CS1 is a joke. Make it more visible so people coming out of Seven Sisters tube see it's a cycle path and don't mill about standing all over it.

I complained about a van always parking on the pavement inn the corner of Hermitage Road/Templeton Road. I round the corner and nearly smack into it. There's no room to run aerobic it or wheel a buggy or wheelchair. Enforcement sorted it for a long time but as of last week it's back. Will be interesting to see if it's there on my run to work this morning...
CS1 in 7 Sisters is ABSURD! It was extremely STOOPID of TFL to place a cycle path on a heavily used pavement where it was OBVIOUS that the pedestrian and cycle traffic would conflict and compete for space.

JUST PLAIN STOOPID,

But they had to tick a box and our politicians were nit strong enough to get the scheme changed. The result is a very bad compromise that serves no one well.

I won't go into how they expanded the number of traffic lanes from 4 to 5 along the short stretch of High Rd in front of Tescos and how they stole our planted promenade to foist a poorly deigned stretch of C1 there too! The surrounding environment is more polluted noise, fumes, speeding vehicles, than before.

These people are a waste of space!

When the parking officers can't even give clarity on what the parking signs on Green Lanes actually mean it's not surprising that they are up there!!

I reckon we could get up to No. 6 if wardens dealt with all the cars piled into the no-parking zone outside the café / laundrette on Lordship Lane junction with Ellenborough Road. It's constantly full, overspilling onto the pavement, but I've never seen a single ticket.
