Council tax benefit to be renamed rebate

In order to encourage pensioners to apply for council tax benefit to which they are entitled, it is to be rebranded as a ‘rebate’ .

The move comes after pressure from the Royal British Legion who argued some older people don’t like to be seen as ‘claiming a benefit’.

It has not yet been confirmed when the change will come into force.
