I'm really sorry Eddie, I know we talked about Tuesday but then when I confirmed with Mrs McM found that I'd have to move it to Wednesday. I changed the HoL event but did not tell you, completely my fault. Very sorry. See you tomorrow night.

    Dear OAE,
Your kind invitation to re-visit Harringay and to sip a cup of Earl Grey (or stronger) is so typical of the warmth I have always felt coming to me from members of HoL. But I fear such a trip is most unlikely.
Did you know that I live in Warwickshire? And at 88 next birthday I view the prospect of such a journey with apprehension. I could no longer drive that distance and would need to use train, Underground etc, with all the associated hassle.
Moreover, I am the full-time carer of my wife, who is confined to an electric wheelchair. And even if I could find suitable cover for one day, I would surely need to stay overnight. And thus the complications increase.
I also have to tell you that she and I are very low at present. Two days ago our elder daughter died suddenly in her sleep, aged 59. Our surviving daughter is a tower of strength, as are our grandchildren, and I feel certain you will understand our position without my needing to go into further detail.
I suppose we will eventually emerge from this awful darkness, but ..............
It was good of you to allow me to write privately for, as you will also understand, none of the above has any place in the general pages of HoL.
    Thank you again,
    Arthur

That would be great -- when would be a good time to collect them?

    Best,
