Thank you for the welcome message, Hugh! Have technically met you in Big Green Bookshop before at their recent birthday party; my girlfriend and I were handing out soup..!

Hi - thanks for the welcome message!

I move into my new place next week and very excited. Looking forward to getting to know the people and the area nearby (and important things like which pub serves the best wine!)

    Hi Hugh,

Thanks for the welcome. I was actually looking for work when I found this website... I'm a Marketing student and I have been a graphic design for ten years now and I'm always struggling to find a part time as a designer...

This community site its a very good idea. Congrats.

    Thanks

    Alex

Hi Hugh! Thanks for the warm welcome (I know a bit late :( ). We've been living here now almost a year and I still don't feel home at all. In our house yes, but not in the area. Are there any events / links you can suggest to catch up with the community or get to know neighbors and the area? I'm pregnant (5 months), love gardening and teach dance to children. The trouble is, my fiancee and myself are mostly working at weekends...

Thanks a lot and I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Nina

Hi Hugh - I am looking for some help! A couple of months ago the mobile site seemed to change on my phone (android) If I go to the main page I don't see the full page, just a feed. I think I sort of understand how it is supposed to work but most of the time it doesn't ie I can't scroll further down to see older posts, or if I go into a discussion I usually can't "drill down" to see all the posts in that discussion.

Anyway, I find it so difficult that I am using HOL less and less, because most of my browsing is done by phone these days as I am holding a baby. So I am feeling a little out of touch!

Is there a way I can access the normal web version and not get the mobile site?

    Ta!

    Gill

  • Station House Community Cafe

No I didn't realise, but thank you for your suggestion and letting me know. Do you perhaps know how to link my wiki with Harringay online wiki?

    Thanks for your help

  • Elan

Thanks Hugh. Great site by the way!

  • Station House Community Cafe

Ok I think the wiki is now public and available to everyone. Basically I'm new to this forum, but am anxious that the local community benefit from our cafe and so would like to make our events and information as accessible to everyone as possible. Especially as we have an exciting upcoming event on the 24th of August. Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time

Hi Hugh, thanks for the message.  I registered in order to ask for recommendations for a handyman to put up some flat pack furniture but have found a few recommendations just be looking at existing threads so will try those first.

  • Mitchell Wells

Hi Hugh, Thanks for the message and our brief chat earlier about my Grandparents shop Genia in Green Lanes (1940s to 1980). If you manage to find a photo that included the shop that would be brilliant. Meanwhile I'll put together some memories of living above the shop and the area in general from 1962 to 1965.

    Cheers

    Hi Hugh

I noticed a post about a cat sitting group recently, but for some reason I cant access the post, it says "appache tomcat" but all the other posts are OK.  Wonder if you can assist.

    Thanks

Hi Hugh. Thanks for all the work you do on Harringay Online! In a post I started about supporting the Cypriot shop owned by Andreas and Julia Michli on St ann's road, Matt suggested I contact you to ask about the potential of organising a cash mob at their shop. What do you think of this idea? I would help. Cheers,

    Shilpa

    Hi Hugh

Thanks for the welcome. Just thought I should report that in fact I am not entirely new as I have been placing Creative Dance 60+ events for over a year. It is now that a personal issue has cropped that that I wanted to comment on that I have now joined in my personal capacity. Thanks for all your hard work. HoL is a great form of communication

  • Roger

Thanks Hugh, I have been meaning to join since I heard about the site last year. I have lived on the Ladder with my partner since 1988 and have seen the area change so much in the last 25 years. I look forward to participating in the online community,

    Thanks, Roger.

  • Nick

Many thanks Hugh for the welcome, look forward to learning more about the network!

  • vevika

Hi Hugh, thanks for the welcome message. Have a great weekend!

  • maggie

Hugh, I can't use the messaging system any more, any ideas why.
    Also,
has there been any discussion about people using the same names on HoL, e.g. two other people have joined called Maggie and as most people on here know me just as Maggie it may cause confusion, I may not want their views conflated with mine, not that there is any particular issue yet. Just a thought, I suppose one answer would be to change my site name, regards, Maggie.
  • Esther Shepherd

Thanks for the welcome message Hugh - great hearing about what is going on in the local area.

    HI Hugh!

Thanks for the lovely welcome. We are a Northwest London family originally, just finishing up a two year posting in Tanzania and looking to move into Harringay. The advice your members give each other is brilliant and a fantastic antidote to Estate Agents website bs. I will be starting a Forum discussion forthwith! Vanessa

Hi I find this site very useful except I must be one of the few members who don't live on the Ladder or Green Lanes!

I am not ashamed to say I live in Crouch End!

I have a load of plastic flowerpots I would like to recycle. Does anyone have a home for them? I don't know which part of the website to link up with.

  • TeaLady

Thanks Hugh. You are running a great service which I'm looking forward to using.

    Best,

    Esther

Heya Hugh.  How's it going?  Thanks for getting in touch.  I'm going to be honest though, I've been reading through this page for ages, never quite getting involved.  But I hope that this Growing in Haringey project has spurred me on, to play a bit more of a role.  I live in the Omega Works warehouses on Hermitage Road and I've been working in East Haringey for about 4 years now.  First for the regeneration of the Lordship Rec and then volunteering for a number of different community groups.  I'm hoping to re-launch the Growing in Haringey website soon, and was actually going to ask you about how you went about starting this incredible forum and online space and then built it up.  Where are you based?  Would you have half an hour spare one of these weeks?  Any insider tips would be amazing as I'm hoping to make the GiH website a go-to place for people who are into gardening and to try and build an on- and offline community and network around gardening and food-growing.  Anyway, shall be in touch.  Thanks for your message again, great to finally be here...

    regards

    Felix
