Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Now in its fifth successful year, Apple Day is on Saturday 19 October from 2-5 at Hornsey Vale Community Centre, 60 Mayfield Road, N8 9LP.
The Blackmoor Estate have donated over forty varieties of heritage apples to taste and the ever popular press will be juicing apples and pears. There will be tea and cake at Transition Crouch End's sustainable cafe and Harringay resident Dick Harris will be selling his jams and chutney.  The event offers a raft of apple art activities and is a chance to find about local projects, such as the Meadow Orchard and the Friends of  Stationers Park Green Roof.
A wet spring and an usually sunny summer have resulted in an abundance of apples, easily seen in local gardens and streets.  Rather than let them go to waste, N8 residents are encouraged to bring them to the event to be juiced or shared around.  They can also enter their produce in the Chutney Challenge or post their favourite recipes on the apple noticeboard.  Any left over apples will be donated to make chutney for the Haringey YMCA Employability Project.
