Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The Ladder Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) has flagged up another tree management issue in Harringay.

Back in 2022, a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) was put in place to protect the group of large mature trees along Wightman Rd on the Jewsons site. The application was made because there was concern that the trees might be unnecessarily removed, particularly as the site has been earmarked for possible future development.

The LCSP say, "Jewsons have now applied for permission to prune the trees (HGY/2024/1511), and while there may be a case for some limited pruning where branches are growing up against the walls and roof of their buildings, the proposed work also includes the reduction of the height of the trees by up to 5 metres. That seems unwarranted and would greatly reduce both their visual presence in the street and their environmental impact (pollution reduction/CO2 absorption)."

If you wish to object/comment, you can do so in the comments section of the  planning application page. (deadline 18 June).
