Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I notice the council have put up parking suspension/variation notices up in preparation for another event at Finsbury Park.
Is anyone aware of the legality of these because as far as I can tell they do not conform with the dft requirements.
I'm sure a few people will get caught by them even if they're not legally enforceable.

There is an order with all the extra legal jargon at the top of my street (Warham) and then notices like the one you have attached in your photo on each lamp post

Bet the council won't be letting residents have any extra parking permits to compensate for having to use them when there are not normally restrictions!

Good point, Karen - I have guests coming and it's going to cost me over £4 in extra permits.

That's a bit unfair on the Council given that in effect, they are damned if they do or damned if they don't.  The only alternative is to not have the parking extensions which would leave roads like ours blocked with festival goers leaving no room for us or our guests whether we want to pay or not.  It's a small price to pay I would say.

And actually I questioned in my mind whether Visitor Parking Permits would be allowed at all during the extended periods but I checked the letter and they can be used.

That's good news.

I can't see that they have applied for a a variation either. Thought they had to apply to the department of transport (if that's what it is still called)
I think all you need is a traffic management order and that power is devolved to a local authority. If it was something like closing of a principal or trunk road, I think that's when you need Whatever The Department is Called These Days approval or TfL for one of the roads they are responsible for. Parking is suspended all the time (for skips or deliveries for example) so I would imagine it would be impractical to get government authority for the thousands of suspensions local authorities in London alone must process each year.
Ah okay. Makes sense. Thanks.
