Call me old-fashioned but aren't speed cameras supposed to be a deterrent to reduce speeding and by extension death/injuries rather than a money-generating exercise?

Yes. Luckily there's a super easy way to not get caught speeding by a hidden speed camera.

Yes it's called sticking to the speed limit. But something you can't see doesn't act as a deterrent does it.....

They could do with some on Wightman Road. 20 mph seems to be a minimum not a maximum among there these days.

The newest one I know is the one on Philip Lane, but I wouldn't call it hidden. It does particularly repay proper behaviour of course, being in the 20mph category.
