Toadspawn
I have loads of frogspawn and have just seen a newt in my pond, but no toads in sight. Does anyone have some toad-spawn I could pinch a little of to start up a community in my wildlife friendly garden?

Hi Bridget - its great that you have so much wildlife in your pond but it is not advisable to move amphibian spawn around as it can spread disease. This is from the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust website
Moving frogs or spawn? We do not advise that you attempt to move amphibians or their spawn away from your pond at this time of year: by taking them to a different pond you may unwittingly transfer various diseases and invasive plants. Also, many amphibians may try to return and they will suffer if placed in an unsuitable area. Do not release spawn, tadpoles or adult amphibians into the wild or into public water bodies such as rivers, canals reservoirs or country park/nature reserve ponds.
Toads require deeper water than frogs to breed and return again and again to the same spots to breed. So, if you have no toads it may be because they simply don't think its deep enough. Or they may discover it another time Read more on toads here
