On saturday I decided to knock out the plastic air brick under the ground floor front bay window to replace it with something more ornate and in keeping with the character of the building.
When I removed the 1980s plastic air brick (date in mortar behind air brick) I discovered the remnants of a rusted cast iron air brick which I believe could have been the original air brick that was used when the house was constructed.
I have been doing some restoration works to the exterior of the house and would really like to reinstate a replica of the original cast iron air brick.
By doing some research I believe the original air brick could have looked similar to this:

My question is does anyone have an original air brick under the bay window and if so does it look like this one?
Thanks

Ours (Ladder, south end, mid-1880s) is rather more serpentine in the airhole design. But the main thing to bear in mind is the sizing (I see that your Ebay example says 'metric', which may not fit exactly). Beyond that, unless you're going for a late-Victorian absolutely repro restoration, a cast iron airbrick as in your picture will look much better than the orange (probably) plastic airbrick you've just removed. You may want to stuff up the hole to avoid rodent ingress....
Thanks! and yes I agree, can't wait for it to arrive.
Thanks for the reply. haha defiantly not!
Yes I have one of the buff double brick clay vents installed at the rear of the house, although not as ornate it will probably last very long and it looks good so I will be keeping that one. Just not a fan of plastic!
