Nile Supermarket on West Green Road just by the post office has a reasonably large selection of organic groceries. Not fresh food, stuff like jams, tea etc.

I'm so looking forward to the days when the restored Wards Corner will be included in these look-we-dared-to-go-to Tottenham-and -came-out-alive travel pieces, along with Council favourites Craven Coffee and Chicken Town.
Actually as you come out of the north side of 7Sisters tube, what greets you is the Beauty Shop, whose customers come from miles around to buy the BAME hair and beauty products not found in the well-to-do supermarket (Tesco, really?). And just behind you is of course the Indoor Market, which is a major visitor spot for London's million-strong Iberian community. Of course the Telegraph writer didn't see these, they are invisible to those commissioned by Spurs for a puff piece as they scurry past. As all the illustrations are from library pictures, did the author even need to visit, StreetView would have done for the stroll up the High Road without risking life and limb, and a call to Haringey's Regeneration Manager would get those handy links to the acceptable new entrepreneurs' websites.

Yes the market is my salvation for organic or at the very least a decent range of interesting food. I remember before the Sainsbury's on west green road there used to be a supermarket where toy could get Exocer refills organic bread and and other things but it got pushed out because of Sainsbury's. Such a shame, would be blooming thriving now!
Never tried Lidl, it's a bit too far for me.

Before Sainsburys there was Fair Deal Supermarket. Lagu tried to give customers what they asked for. When the chance of buying the freehold came up, Lagu snapped it up, but not enough extra trade paid for the huge loan, hence Sainsburys. That freehold is now a trump card in the shabby dealings with Grainger. Freehold is the key to resisting Compulsory Purchase, and confiscating property - what a CPO means - is not taken lightly. Once this CPO is out of the way - end of March expected for the public inquiry - we can finally go ahead with the Community Plan to restore Wards and save our delicate Dear Leader's sensitive eyesight.

Can I put in a vote for Crop Drop? A weekly bag of local, organically grown veg that you pick up from a spot convenient to you. It's brilliant.

We've been living in SoTo and things are definitely changing. Not many organic groceries can be bought tyre but if you know where to go you'll eg find sourdough bread at Tri Cafe or a very Shoreditchey design at the new Blighty on the High Rd. And you'll certainly think twice if you're in Shoreditch when you go to the Beavertown tap room on a Sat afternoon or the Ploughmans, especially their last summer festival at the Rec. And the first Woodcraft group opened recently.

There was a local branch of The Woodcraft Folk when I lived in Mount Pleasant Road in the early 80s (one of the organisers was a neighbour) and I think it may have been around for several decades.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned him on here before, but local (Wood Green) guy "Marky Market" gets meat directly from Smithfield and fish from Billingsgate to order. I love the simplicity of his concept, I haven't ordered from him yet, but have heard great things.
