Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Anyone remember the fuss we locals of Harringay Gardens made - petitions etc after the guy built a 30 foot long shed - on the other side of my back garden fence - he was using it to store white goods - old fridges etc...??

Well his retropsective planning application has been refused...... he can appeal of course....

Furthermore, I have heard there are some other more serious charges against the owner pending...... and some question about the legality of a possible 'hotel' on Green Lanes - near Rainbow corner shop and opposite the No 29 bus-stop.. its funny because its being denied that it is one, a hotel, but it is (allegedly) advertised on a website and I have seen people entering with suitcases on wheels while I was waiting for the No 29....... strange that...

they do food and have a large dining area at the front with a menu up - I was looking in as I passed the other evening...
Has anyone actually reported this shambolic establishment to the council? If so, why are they not shutting this down?
(re AA rating) One may apply to AA for a rating or you may 'self appoint' your own 'estimated' rating. If you estimate your own rating you must say this i.e. your sign would say for instance:

.................................... ** (self appointed) ...............................

.
I found a letter from Haringey from a couple of weeks ago saying that an appeal against the enforcement notice by the owners(Belmont Investments Ltd) about the structure built at the back of 646 (backing on to my garden) and for removal of the pallisade fence (in front), has been made to the Secretary of State.

An online advertisement for the Athena Palace Hotel can be found at http://www.infotel.co.uk/hotels/united_kingdom/greater_london/harri...
It also names the company which is operating the hotel.

The advertisement furthermore, says that off-site secure parking is available.

Planning have been informed.
Just wondering again, has anyone actually checked with the council if this hotel has a license? And what was the answer? If no-one's checked, does anyone know which department is responsible for this?
That would be a start if we are to get anything done, either get it shut down, or just let it carry on being a dodgy hotel if it actually is run legally.
I hear that the council went there and were told that it is NOT a hotel and does not have guests staying there - they are taken across the road to the HMO, or to another place down the road - its just advertised as there and they seem to have dining facilities (see above).... it all smells a bit fishy to me (not the dining menu!). Anyway the council were fobbed off - maybe they need their arm jogged to pay another visit???
I don't see anything wrong with having a cheap (and it is very cheap) hostel in the area. one gets what one pays for.
I do object to the hostel being advertised at the athena when it's not.
Fair enough James, but I object to ths guy running it thinking he can do what he damn well pleases and getting away with it!
me also
From the LCSP meeting last night, we learned that the hotel is not legal, the council are aware of it and are taking action.
Hurraaaaaaah!
