Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

646 Green Lanes again....and another thing.....

Anyone remember the fuss we locals of Harringay Gardens made - petitions etc after the guy built a 30 foot long shed - on the other side of my back garden fence - he was using it to store white goods - old fridges etc...??

Well his retropsective planning application has been refused...... he can appeal of course....

Furthermore, I have heard there are some other more serious charges against the owner pending...... and some question about the legality of a possible 'hotel' on Green Lanes - near Rainbow corner shop and opposite the No 29 bus-stop.. its funny because its being denied that it is one, a hotel, but it is (allegedly) advertised on a website and I have seen people entering with suitcases on wheels while I was waiting for the No 29....... strange that...

HA HA CELL BLOCK B THATS FUNNY. THAT WOULD BE 646 GREEN LANES. THIS IS LIKE BEING ON A ROUNDABOUT WE'RE BACK WERE WE STARTED.
PUTTING EXTREME NEGATIVE REVIEWS WOULD CERTAINLY PUT OFF ANYONE CONSIDERING STAYING AT THE 'ATHENA HOTEL'. OF COURSE WE SALL NOT ADMIT TO SUCH UNDERHAND PRACTICES SEEING AS THE OWNER IS SUCH A SWELL GUY THAT IS CONCERNED FOR THE WELFARE OF HIS NEIGHBOURS (JAMES TRYS NOT TO GAG)

Lets face it, how crushing for your holiday hopes would it be to find yourself in any of these establishments in Harringay?

apparently there are no hotel rooms in the Athena Palace all 'guests' report there and then are taken elsewhere eg to 646 ... so advert is totally misleading... it would be good to have him reported to trading standards by as many as possible.... although they know a bit about our man... so anyone who has the time etc contact trading standards....

there is a notice on the site. 'refurbishments will take place UP TO 5th august'
will be interesting to see where these works are carried out. if you see builders are at the athena it is obviously there but if you see builders at 646 it's there. but if there are builders at none of these ? ? ? ?
i wonder what it will be like for someone on holiday being woken by power tools coming through the wall ?

Hi

If this is the guy that owns the Athena Palace, we have reported him to the council very recently, and the planning officer I dealt with told me he was "known" to them. In short, when they installed noise insulation in the Athena Palace, the left a big gap in the wall between Athena Palace, and Harringay Mews (at the end of Fairfax Road). The wall unfortunately is at the side of our garden. When they were doing the work, they ditched loads of rubble into our garden. We phoned them constantly, and they did eventually come and clear it up. They also promised to make good the gap, but guess what - it's still there! The council has said they will write to him, but we're not expecting much. Going to put a trellis up and grow things up the wall but this guy is unbelievable!

LISA - don't put up with it. he relies on taking advantage of good folks because he knows through experience that ordinary nice people won't speak up.
he views kindness as a weakness.
the more kindness you show the more you are despised.
there is only one kind of language he understands and like all bullies he will back down whenever he is confronted.
in reality he is an ignorant bigot pretending to 'be' somebody in the area.
my theory is that his mother withheld breast.

I actually lived at 646 Green Lanes for a few months after I left University. I spent the really cold winter of 1963 there. We had to go over to the toilets (now locked up) by the Tube entrance to get water as our pipes were frozen.

In those days it was three flats, let out by the owner of the Eric Hotel next door.

I thought the planning notice said "hostel" not "hotel".
