Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone have advice or a good link to rose pruning? I'm not going to do it till next month at least. I inherited a large rose bush and cut it right back without knowing what I was doing. This summer it just put out lots of new green shoots with few roses. My gardening books are not helpful and videos dont seem to be addressing my issue....

It will depend on what type of rose it is (climbing, rambler, shrub etc), but you can't go wrong here:

thanks. have looked here already...

It's not uncommon for shrubs to miss flowering after a hard pruning. Did you feed it? Roses are hungry plants and if it was putting on lots of leaf and stem growth that might explain it. Without knowing what type it is I is difficult to say more.

As well as pruning it is worth looking up renovating on the RHS site; as it explains not all roses will respond well to drastic measures.

You do need to id what type it is. The link to RHS in OWaHD's reply will help there. There's good advice here too from a great rose supplier.
