Hi all,
I got engaged, yay! Now it's time to start planning...I'd love to have some local contributions and ideas as I'm sure many of you are either married yourselves or been to a fair few good weddings!
Can anyone recommend any of the following?
- photographer
- band
- make up artist
- hairdresser
- florist
- wine seller
- Registrar
- dress designer
- stationery for invitations
I look forward eagerly to your suggestions and anything you think I might have missed off the list!
Thank you sooooooo much x

I appreciate your recommendation and thank you for getting over the initial cynical desire..

I honestly wish you well. I think if I could go back in time and give my younger self some advice it would be that contrary to popular belief, love does not conquer all! And not to hook up with anyone with significantly less dosh than you!

I'm always very grateful for advice learnt the hard way so I do thank you. I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you, we never can tell what's around the corner!

Fees

Approved Premises

I agree with Charlotte about organising a date and a venue first. I've done links to Haringey's approved premises and their fees as an example.

Thank you for the links, very helpful!

Congratulations!

I guess it all depends on your budget. I'm inclined to agree with some of the other comments & try to save some cash for the long-term rather than spend on one day. The Town Hall in Bethnal Green is beautiful (no longer a town hall, now a great hotel), Mirror Mirror for a dress, invitations from an online printer & the Wedding Smashers were great DJs for us.

You'll need guests!

I'm a great wedding guest, got a good line in dad dancing and an impressive capacity for alcohol and food. I'm punctual and polite, and won't let you down.

Available to hire at a reasonable rate.

I love this response! Thanks for the chuckle, i'll let you know if I'm in need!

I know woodberry wetlands have applied for a wedding licence - it would be wonderful to get married there! I think it would be in the Coal House and I saw a marquee next to it last week, too.
I can highly recommend Georgia Graham-Leigh for a very professional but warm and friendly experience: http://www.makeupbygeorgia.co.uk

Congratulations!

I got my dress made by Dana Bolton (http://www.dressmakingdesign.co.uk/) who's based in Muswell Hill and specialises in vintage-style designs. She was lovely and, although not cheap, about the same price as something from a traditional bridal boutique that's just off the peg and then altered for fit.

Stationary-wise, we went for the cheap option, designing our own and getting them printed by http://www.stressfreeprint.co.uk/. If you known an artist who you can cajole into doing something for you, or have a nice photo, this is definitely somewhere you can save money...

Good luck and hope you have a wonderful time!

One of my best friends is a dress maker and does lots of bridal work. She is based in S.E. London but if that's not too much bother for you she is definitely worth a call especially if you are considering something slightly unusual.

P.S. there is a picture of my wife are our wedding in that gallery but I won't say which pic!
