That doesn't even make sense. Illegal sites are often on waste ground, light industrial zones etc, rather than in a dense urban area. Are you seriously suggesting that a complete ban on legal, properly provisioned sites will lead to no illegal sites?

No I'm saying that I don't necessarily believe that providing legal sites prevents illegal ones.

I don't think the link you're making between the lack of legal pitches and illegal encampments is an entirely legitimate one.  In Islington there is no provision of legal pitches at all.  But they haven't had any illegal encampments either.  So it is not necessarily a direct "cause and effect" as far as I can see.

Milda, in this week of fact-checking, is it confirmed who committed the crime?

Yes, the lady who runs the cafe managed to get most of the toys back by going over and negotiating them back.

Thanks. I'm assuming that you've heard that directly from the cafe manager.

Yes.

Thank you.

I am sure that not all travellers are guilty of anti-social behaviour.

Every year travellers visit my small village in Kent where normally the most flagrant offence is to put a plastic cup in the recycling bin.

After the travellers arrive, there is always a spate of break-ins, mainly to sheds, and tools, lawnmowers etc are stolen. We have learned not to replace them too soon.

But, of course, this is pure coincidence.

In the interests of trying to offer as balanced a picture as possible, I'm attaching a leaflet put out by Swansea council last year and here's a link to an article sympathetic to the issues faced by travellers. And yes, there are bad people as well as good in any grouping.

They've moved on apparently:

Thanks for that update, Warren.
