Hey all
It's another phone snatch story I'm afraid. But wanted to share it and warn you too as it could have been a lot worse...
At 8.40pm Tuesday evening on the Wightman Road (outside la Vina Tapas bar and Shelton Hotel), 2 guys on a moped branded with an UberEats logo, were driving erratically and doing u-turns in the road. They drove up to a pedestrian crossing where there was a woman on her phone. They grabbed the phone from her and sped off. She looked a bit shocked and asked her if she was OK. In the meantime the two skanks had turned around and were coming back towards us. They threw the phone at us, and it smashed on the ground. I took out my phone to record them, but unfortunately I didn't manage it in time. But then they circled back again, and tried to mount the pavement to attack me for recording. They told us to "Get the f*ck out of here...Walk on...etc" and sped off. It left us all pretty shaken as they were very aggressive. We then called the police and reported the whole incident. I've also emailed UberEats but doubt if they will or can do anything about it.
Be careful with your phones. There are some proper thugs about.

I agree. Its horrible to think they'll simply get away with it.
It's more likely to be a stolen moped. A lot of these types of thefts are carried out on mopeds that are stolen, used for a short time and then ditched.
That though had crossed my mind as well. But my partner and I remembered the driver was wearing a branded jacket that I actually thought was a Deliveroo jacket - same colours etc. I thought I was mistaken till I read yesterday that Deliveroo drivers are working for UberEats as well (according to this article http://uk.businessinsider.com/ubereats-takeaways-are-being-delivere....... "Obviously it's not practical for riders to change their uniform each time they make a delivery for a different platform. As a result, there are delivery people turning up at people's homes and offices with an UberEATS bag and a Deliveroo uniform, or vice versa.").
Maybe it was stolen, along with the jacket - its totally possible I guess.
The police were there and they didn't catch them ... maybe they need to get some police onto motorbikes. The ban on chasing by car is probably temporary while they re-assess their procedures (?) Otherwise, if the police can't give chase what's the point in having them out there on call-out patrol (999).
Guessing the death was the 'drone' chase in north London, they were spotted using a drone to delivery stuff to a prisoner through a prison window. Police gave chase as they escaped in their car. Car crashed, one occupant died.
Overall police services are stretched just like every other service due to servere funding cutbacks.
