If you want a slightly lower rent than the areas mentioned above, you may want to try Noel Park. I did a quick search on Rightmove and found decent looking 2-bed houses for 1,400 and 1 & 2 bed flats (I suspect their all actually 1-bedrooms) for 1,100 per month.

Thank you Rachella, really appreciate your reply. Looking at the area now. I'm spoiled, I suppose, with the really spatious one bedroom flat I'm in at the moment for 1200, council tax included. I find it unbelievable what agents think they can put out there. People should be paid to move into some of the places I've seen.

Anyway. I'm not giving up hope!

You're not kidding! I'd be hard pressed if I had to move now, but I've lived in Noel Park for 6 years now and really love it.

Same here. Six years in Finsbury Park, renting the top floor flat in a lovely family home. Now that gentrification is hitting the neighbourhood they got dollar signs in their eyes and are converting the property into four luxury apartments. Moving to Leeds is beginning to look like the only option. Never mind the commute...
