Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Rape in Ducketts Common at 9pm on a Saturday night. Drug dealing throughout the passage in the middle of the day today. What can we do to stop this free-for-all???

Nonsense...you'll outlive us all John...xx

John M and John D:                                                                                                 Council tax is to pay for retired residents' Freedom Passes,

Some of us retired residents pay enough Council tax for our own so-called Freedom Passes and to collect the rubbish of those who pay none.

Mama, I'm 73 years old.

I, too, am kicking 73, I couldn't afford to eat breakfast this morning, I'm not about to start giving free history lessons about Ladder crime rates since 1887, but I'll use my Freedom Pass to represent y'all at John D's obsequies around the mid-century.

I hope you are joking not being able afford to eat breakfast. I can't tell with you.

Just to join in with the competitiveness. I've lived in 3 different addresses in Harringay in over 20 years. It definitely feels safer (as opposed to is safer) and the ladder roads feel safer due to the one way, so called 20 mph system (as opposed to etc)

Well we've lived on Warham Road for over 30 years and the levels of crime were far, far worse. In the first five or so years we were here we were burgled twice (I actually caught one of them), attempted break ins seemed pretty regular, there was a murder next door to us, a drive by shoot out in the street and no one in their right mind EVER went down Harringay Passage
This is in no way is to down play the awful rape at the weekend but I feel safer here now than I have ever done.
PS. And I was mugged three times right by my own house

Whoa! Now that is perspective! As awful as that all was, it is comforting to hear that the area is presumably on the upswing safety-wise. With house prices so high in the area and rising, that is a good sign.

It's fascinating to think about all of the changes this area has been through since the 1800's. That is what I love about this country- the history!

The reduction in burglary stats over the years are certainly impressive not just here in Haringey but across London.
The rape actually happened on March 12th... I have no idea why it's taken so long to see it reported via the Press...

Yesssssss

Mum Power.

See - it can be done.

Oh good. They did promise at last Wednesday's meeting that these bollards would go in, so mini fist pump for Thandi and her pals!.
