Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I've been trying for over a month to get an appointment at my local surgery, Bridge House, where I've been a patient for twenty years. They have recently had a catastrophic loss of staff, with four doctors leaving this month for a variety of reasons, and so far only one permanent replacement appointed. The result is that it's completely impossible to get an appointment - they simply say there are none 'on the system' and to try back in a few days, when it's exactly the same story.

There is a phone consultation triage system in the morning to deal with emergency appointments, I don't want to use that, as it's something long term I wish to discuss and I'm not sure I'd 'qualify'. Nonetheless I'm beginning to feel a bit desperate, and as though there really is no primary health care service available to me.

Is there another GP practice that is functioning better in Haringey, or are they all in the same boat?

Thank you. Shame about Dr Curtin, I thought he was excellent. Dr Ferrar was really nice too, not sure I ever saw Dr Thomas.
Ditto that.
The two doctors left are the reason that I left the surgery.
This comment seems to be going dangerously off topic which was issues with getting appointments not the standard of the doctors.

I agree Jenny. Just to say that all the doctors I've seen at the surgery are excellent and conscientious, and I didn't mean to give the impression that there is something wrong with the standard of care offered. It's clear that the crisis in recruitment and morale across the NHS is having a serious effect on GP's ability to do their job, and it's not really surprising that people are going to A&E for things they would previously have seen their GP about.

I agree with you about the pressures they are under and have had excellent care from Dr Haas and have never seen anyone else. Glad to see some others acknowledging this too in the comments below and I know Natalie you were just curious who it was that left as I was too. There are official channels to use for complaints about medical treatment if required but i was just uncomfortable with the direction that the thread was going in.
Sorry, my fault. I have also had good experiences of the doctors I have seen there, I was just curious as to who had left.
Dr. Haas may be a bit bonkers but she and Dr. Brothers have been great... in my experience.

Dr Haas is my favourite.

To add a bit of balance to my comments about Bridge House I will say that I thought Dr Haas was a very good doctor. It wasn't so much the doctors I had a problem with; it was the rude, unprofessional receptionists who were the main problem and the fact that is was impossible to get an appointment. But I have nothing negative to say about Dr Haas

My experience with the receptionists in the past six months has been good, I haven't dealt with anyone who struck me as rude or unprofessional.

I agree Gordon, and I'll bet they have to deal with quite a lot of rude and difficult patients. It's not their fault that appointments are not available.
