Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I've just received a letter, to our address, but to someone who (to my knowledge) has never lived here.  It's from Opus Energy, and on the back says if you are not the addressee then fill in your name and meter read date.

This all sounds highly suspicious to me -- I've read many stories of 'slamming' in the past (where an electricity supplier was changed without your permission).  Also a cursory google for Opus Energy brings up hundreds of people short-changed by them.

Has anyone received something similar?  I'm loth to reply with my actual name because I don't want to be scammed by them, but at the same time I don't want someone trying to do something in my name. It could a landlord with a wrong address.

You could try contacting your current supplier, explain the situation, and emphasise that you do not want to switch supplier and that they should rebuff any third-party approach.

Yes, that was going to be my next step. Is there any kind of extra 'lock' they can put on an account to prevent it being switched without your express permission I wonder?

Limit of expertise reached, sorry!
