Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The Sun newspaper, which organised the 1,300,000-signature petition in connection with Baby P have made available on their website the Joint area review of services for children and young people, with particular reference to safeguarding.

I converted it into a pdf file for convenience, for those who wish to download and read the original report (below).

Thanks a lot for this Clive. How did you manage to get it, I thought the whole report wasn't going to be made public?
Hi Jo,

There are several reports about Baby P, either made, published or underway. Possibly four in all.

The Serious Case Review was an internal one begun by Shoesmith, described as "inadequate" by Inspectors and will be re-done properly. This is confidential and may remain so. The only person who has given their impression of that report is MP Lynne Featherstone who has a few comments here.

The two-week OFSTED Report that you've seen was always intended to be published by the Government Childrens Secretary Ed Balls. Fortunately it was not as limited in scope as had been feared and the conclusions speak for themselves. But it was only a two week investigation which isn't enough to get to the bottom of problems that are obviously deep-seated and cultural. If our council is a patient, its suffering from multiple organ failure. We still need a public enquiry.

Lord Laming has been asked to review child protection measures and will report next year. You might recognize his name as it was he who chaired the Enquiry into the death of Victoria Climbié.

I think there may be another report in this connection but I'm afraid I can't identify it, but I hope that helps.

BW, Clive.
This report is available on the Ofsted site, so I'm not quite sure what the sun has to do with it.

The second 'serious case review' to be carried out (an investigation into what actually happened) is unlikley to be published in full as it will inevitably contain confidential information about other family members. The findings of that would determine the scope of a further enquiry.
