Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The R&B Nu-soul boy-band Damage played at Wireless 2015.

However damage to the public park in which they played, remains. (There is no suggestion that Damage caused damage to the park).

Amongst the damage to the park is the barrier on the Hornsey Gate entrance where many vehicles manoeuvred in and out, including huge trucks, going to and from the Wireless construction area.

These amazing, exciting festivals are hugely impressive for the management and organisation … and they'd be better suited to a rural location, rather than in the midst of an urban built-up area.

The post of the main hinge for this barrier has taken a big hit. Was this another Heritage Lottery-funded improvement that is becoming degraded?

If it's repairable at all, it won't look good. The 'keep' for the barrier (at the other end) is bent too. A month after Wireless, this damage is still there: in some parts of the park, there are bright shiny improvements: in others, further degrading with each Wireless.

Will anyone pick up the tab for the full repair or replacement of this damage?

Or will this just be crowbar-ed to an upright position?

Or just left?

The regular maintenance of the things we already have is not one of Haringey's strongest attributes: the emphasis is often on the new, bright and shiny.

Post wrecked: it was something heavier than a bicycle that caused this

Posts on pavement still upright

Barrier slumped onto carriageway

The keep at the far end was bent too

Hello,

Just to clarify, unfortunately this post was damaged in a "hit and run" several days after Live Nation had moved on following Wireless. We do have a new post on order and will get this replaced ASAP.

Thanks for the update Pressdesk and good to know that there is a new post on order.

A pity we can't just order new grass for Serengeti* or for the bare patches on the main field!

Sadly, it still looks like looks mange on the fur of a mangy animal.

There's also the minor damage that is unlikely to be repaired. The fence around the tennis court was bent during and as a result of Wireless.

Wireless 2016 could see it damaged a bit more.

Live Nation's steel wall, wrapped around the tennis court, but excluded the skate board area (i.e. was erected between the fence and the skateboard park, leaving that amenity available for the public):

The Friends of Finsbury Park have photos, from a similar viewpoint and orientation, of Live Nation's steel wall bent outwards.

The Wireless wall was braced on the inside to resist pressure from without. The bracing along here may have been less effective. In any event, the wall is more vulnerable to pulling outwards and over. In the 100s of metres of excluding steel wall, this section was vulnerable.

Welcome to the 'conversation'.

It's been a while since the Council has commented here. Is there any particular reason for the re-engagement?

I hope you can stick around, and that the trolls dont bite too hard.

In that very first photo, one of the main gates seems to be at a bit of an angle.

It does Madeline, but I don't think there's any actual damage there: probably a function of the relatively wide-angle lens (it's parallel with the structure behind; the bottom of the gate swings against a slight incline on the road.

The post I've complained about may not have been damaged during Wireless (though much other damage did occur during Wireless), however, it remains damage – unrepaired – in our park.

THIS morning, the damaged gate post was being dug out.
