Jai Krishna: the local place for delicious masala dosa and other vegetarian Indian food

Just had a masala dosa in Jai Krishna (10 Turnpike Lane, London N8 0PT). It's a crispy and fresh South Indian Indian kind of wrap, stuffed with spicy potatoes. At £ 4 it's a great bargain on their lunch time menu. Jai Krishna is not like the bog standard Indian restaurants in London that serve mainly Northern Indian food. Dishes like the dosa are from the south, the thalis are from the Gujarat and the cuisine is all vegetarian. Many HoL readers have been campaigning for more variety at our end of Green Lanes (and I am pleased that we are gradually getting this), However, lunch today reminded me of the fact that we have variety around the corner, as Turnpike Lane also includes Malaysian, Mauritian and Indian.

Couldn't agree more.
This place is the best and most authentic indian food around - validated by my indian GF. It's vegetarian, but as a lifelong 'traditional' non vegetarian curry eater, I actually prefer to go here. Very unassuming, so many may not have noticed it. Great value. Bring your own.

I love that place!

Indeed, It's one of the best Indian restaurant I've tried here in London. Proper authentic India food and super affordable  prices.

Its amazing - great place  if you want to meet up as a big group, its sooooo cheap that there's never any arguments over who owes what ; )

And their other branch at 161 Stroud Green Road is still going strong. Both branches are BYOB so they're excellent value on top of the good food.

Oh dear, I've been there two or three times and although it was all right, I really tend to avoid it - just wasn't that impressed with the food, and I have had South Indian vegetarian food elsewhere. I'll give it another go though given your rave revues.
