I am in the process of looking at buying a tumble dryer, microwave and large upstanding fridge (upright, as opposed to one with good character...).
I have done the usual trawl on Google, but does anyone have any magic web sites they go to for good deals on white goods?

There's no magic - I've had good experiences with ao.com & John Lewis.
You could try a local kitchen (fitter) shop (I don't mean an appliance shop) and see if they can beat an online retailer, though the range of brands on offer may be limited and they may not be interested if you're not buying a kitchen.
This place is excellent and you can find huge discounts on a number of items. They also have a auction on a Wednesday and Saturday where you can get things even cheaper if you can be bothered with the hassle of standing in line etc >>>
Thanks everyone. I will approach some locals and see if they are prepared to shave a bit more off what I could get online.
Interesting all the prices are in a real tight range- almost as though there was a form of collusion going on in pricing items... Hmmmm!
Amazon - to read the reviews, then best supplier for item or .... I have had the bargain from these guys on Middle Lane. Last one was a Fagor washing machine @ £200 now six years old and never had a problem with it.
JSG Electrical in Middle Lane, Crouch End are a fantastic local firm. I have used them for washing machine repairs and recently bought a washing machine from them. They give you an appointment time and stick to it (unlike big national firms with their call centres and 7am-2pm delivery slots),delivery and fitting is free, taking away your old machine is free. Prices are good too. Recommended.
