Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Friends of Stroud Green and Harringay library are looking for folks to give talks/poetry readings/presentations

The Friends of SG&H library are inviting local people to help us put on our free Saturday afternoon events at the library. We have had a number of well-attended and fascinating Saturday afternoon talks over the past couple of years on a variety of topics, including The Spriggan on Parkland Walk, Working Mens Clubs, Lotus cars, Conscientious Objectors, Japanese influence on art and  history of the side saddle to name but a few.

  • Do you have a particular hobby or interest you would be willing to talk about and/or demonstrate? Maybe run a workshop?
  • Are you an author or poet who would be prepared to do a reading of your work?
  • Have you an interesting experience you could share with us?
  • Would you like to lead a debate on some aspect of local or national community life?
  • Another idea?

...or do you know someone who might fit one of the above categories? We are more than happy for people to promote their products, books etc as part of the talk.

Also let us know what kind of talks would interest you e.g. local history, art, books etc.

If you think you can help, please let me know via this site

Liz

Get Alan to demo his miniature steam garden railway!!!

Is it portable?

Yes, it is

Then we may be on to something. There is a garden out the back - might be a fun thing to do in the summer?

Yes please!

I'm a poet & novelist & would be happy to do a reading.

Ruth, thank you - will message you.

Doesn't need a garden really he can do it indoors on portable track. Best to speak to him.

Yes,  I'll speak to him about it. The space at the library is a bit limited - I guess he'd have to come and look at it. Thought  if we could do it outside, it might attract passers by too.

Yes, outside would be better I think.
