Lorry Watch No2: Hewitt No Right Turn Becomes... Allison Reverse
So, after watching the numpty on Pemberton this morning I saw this this afternoon. Now that Hewitt has become a veritable backwater, the tumble weed seems only to be disturbed by the occasional lorry forgetting themselves and the No Right Turn at the bottom.
The guy turns left (at least the signs are clear one may observe), only to rectify his navigational error by reversing up Allison so as to make the right turn to get to St Anns he was looking for in the first place.
Had my lorry watch journalistic skills been better honed I would have got a better sequence of pics. You can just see him disappearing south on GL in the bottom one.
So, one problem's solution causes unintended consequences elsewhere. I guess we need to have Allison make themselves a 'No Reversing' road if this keeps happening.

When the satnavs are updated to send people down Pemberton and Beresford instead of Hewitt this kind of thing will stop, relax.

What are the current traffic figures on Pemberton, are there peak congestion periods, how many cars are a result of school drop off and collection, how has the school travel plan had any impact, which direction are cars turning, what are cars destination, how many journeys are returning to neighbouring roads?
I tried to get South Harringay School to get local suppliers to reduce noise from refrigerated trucks on Pemberton and journeys by JJ's from Enfield, but this is controlled by the LEA, maybe this needs revisiting.
Ultimately it's in all our interests to reduce traffic on the Ladder and reduce car dependence locally.
Wightman road is a residential and cultural area with four religious centres. Wightman should no longer be accepted as a B road, this will reduce traffic on all the ladder roads, and should be a focus that unites us.
There does need to be targeted presence from the police to deal with dangerous acceleration and speeding to and from Manor House and Turnpike Lane, I was nearly run down crossing to Duckets Common Sunday night, cars did not anticipate reducing speed, Green Lanes is hostile to pedestrians and further work needs to be done addressing this. A lot of people walk to Manor House and Turnpike Lane Tube stations, so traffic affects all those travelling to and from these stations. The Frobisher Rd junction with Green Lanes remains hostile to parents and children travelling to school from 8.30am, the crossing doesn't follow the needs of residents, ideally a Tokyo crossing would address this, the existing crossing is full of good intention, but is still a compromise.
Illegal manoeuvres need to be issued with appropriate warnings or fines, enforced by a greater police presence.
Please feedback periods perceived as dangerous, so the police can focus attention at these times.
