Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Anybody got any ideas? And please, don't suggest making wine from them, we don't have the where-withal nor the inclination for that.

They're not ripe yet though but when they are they're quite sweet. Small, seeded purple grapes and it's only the one vine.

I just want to see if there's any thing else that we can do with them.

Make jam, or juice them perhaps?
Grape jelly is easy and there are lots to recipe is online. It keeps well and you can have it like jam or use it where you would have something cranberry jelly with meat.
Grape jelly is great, though it takes a bit of equipment.

wine isn't out of the question.. always some satisfaction in making and drinking your own produce.

Grapes generally ripen between late August and late October, depending on the variety. Grapes need to be picked when they are ripe as they will not ripen any further once they have been picked from the vine.

they should taste nice and sweet. If they don’t taste sweet, then leave them a few days longer. Once the grapes have turned colour it can take them anywhere between 1 and 3 weeks to become properly ripe, and how long it takes will depend on the variety of the grape and how good the weather is.

If they are sweet grapes, why not just eat them?

They are sweet but very small and with pips. And neither of us like wine nor can we afford to buy all the gear to make any.

You could pickle the grapes which is very quick, easy and delicious.  Absolutely amazing with cheese. We made pickled grapes at the weekend and they are just wonderful.  For every 1kg of grapes you only need 600ml cider or white wine vinegar, 900g granulated sugar, 1/2 cinnamon stick, 4 cloves and 1/4 tsp of freshly grated nutmeg. Put everything except the grapes in a large preserving pan, bring to the boil then add the grapes and simmer for 4 minutes. Scoop out the grapes and put them in sterilised jars then boil down the vinegar/sugar syrup for 10 minutes.  Leave the syrup to cool, then spoon into the jars to cover the grapes.  Seal the jars then eat at your leisure.
