Back in June Harringay Online broke the earth-shatteringly important news of the Crouch End Coffee Price Wars. It has since been picked up by the Journal and other local bloggers and tweeters.
So I'm delighted to be able to report of a possible winner.
Whilst in the End this afternoon, I popped in to the library to check out the current art show and to have a looksee at the two week old UnLibrary coffee shop.
It's run by the well known eccentrically dressed Crouch End figure of Robin Stevenson (@raliel). A nicer man you could not meet. Robin explained that unlike his cafe forerunners, he's running his set-up as a social enterprise. After wages, any profit will be ploughed back into the UnLibrary. Here's Robin explaining it his way:
I've been talking with Diana Edmonds, Head of Haringey Libraries, for the past year with a view to using the spare space at (Harringay &) Stroud Green Library for a mix of third space and and cafe and I hope something will happen before too long.
In the meantime, pop down and have a cheap coffee and bun with Robin

It is indeed a nice Library and the cheapest coffee in Crouch End. However, it would be much better if the staff at the Library weren't so LOUD! In fact, it is one of the noisiest libraries I've even been to.
Hey! you keep it quiet but we (staff) can talk like if we were in the Pub!
Once that little problem get sort it, we'll have the loveliest library in London.
Keep on the good work.
