(by lordship Hub, i mean the cafe in Lordship Rec)

Rub a dub dub,
Everything is a hub,
And what did they used to be?
A library, an office,
Café in the park.
Because it sounds cool, you see.

Great day in the Lordship Rec Hub and park: 'We Remember', 26th July

What a great day it was in the rec today! It was all so lovely and moving.
The Walter Tull play was really impressive and moved me to tears. Then the procession to the memorial for the shelter tragedy with the pipers was also very emotional and the families of lost ones were very pleased with the way things went and liked the mock up of the finished sculpture that Gary had made out of plaster. Ray (of the Friends) made a very emotional speech too. Then to finish it off perfectly the swing/jazz band were fantastic and some of us had a bit of a dance in the sunshine. The cafe was a huge success too, thanks to Church on the Farm (even though the oven refused to work!!!) But anyway it was just so enjoyable, it was a great opening to the next 25years!!!

I agree with Joan!  And also thanks to
- Adrienne the Punch and Judy puppeteer who entertained the young kids with her spellbinding traditional one-person show (oh no she didn't, oh yes she did!)... Adrienne's father, uncle and grandfather were puppeteers and she has inherited and updated the tradition..
- Rockstone for their military cycling information display and their historic bikes
- Ray for his history display regarding Lordship Rec and the Shelter Tragedy
- Colin for his impromptu violin playing at the door of the Hub
- all those who helped out in the setting up and running of the event

All of the people doing activities are local - Adrienne's dad used to do a regular show in the Rec, the play was by youth involved in the new Tottenham Theatre, the 2 pipers were both local, Gary the sculptor lives just by the Rec, and the jazz band were local too... Even the Little Flame first aid / ambulance on duty for the event are based in South Tottenham.

What a lot of talented and caring people we have in the area.

Up to 300 people attended throughout the day, and 24 more people joined the Friends of Lordship Rec..
