Rediscovering Coldfall Woods
It's been too long since I've been to Coldfall Woods. One of four ancient woodlands in the borough, it is truly a very special place. Earlier this evening we walked for a couple of hours through the woods, the Muswell Hill Playing Fields and into the abandoned tangle of the nether regions of East Finchley Cemetery. We must have seen about four people during the whole walk. I'd been looking for a London place with a little solitude and certainly found it here tonight.

When I worked at Fortismere I used to sit there and have my lunch. I would spend the whole hour there without seeing anyone! it constantly amazed me why no other members of staff would go there, not that I'm complaining. It's one of North London's best kept secrets. Well it was....

Damn my secret wood has been rumbled. I agree it's a special place and one where people don't seem to visit. The last time I went the back bit was all flooded and took this photo http://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3940120. Great photos by the way
