Campaign group Unite Against Fascism is today holding a peaceful demonstration after the clashes. A statement on the group's Facebook page said: "After a neo-Nazi attack in Markfield Park, Tottenham, North London, yesterday, join a peaceful vigil tomorrow (Monday 23 June), 6 PM at Tottenham Green (opp Tottenham Town Hall); called by UAF. Fascists are not welcome in Tottenham!"

ah - this explains the meaning of 'Zjednoczeni Emigranci' graffiti sprayed onto the street sign at the street next to Seven Sisters station (think Birstall Road)
I noticed this graffiti in Markfield Park in February. Can anyone translate? Facebook page here. (Google translate of their About statement: The only type of contact is PW. Relationships and photos: Mayhem, lighting, tattoos kibicowskich! JOIN U.S.!) There was a group of young people there who saw me taking the pic and one said he was proud to have done it. There are often small groups of young Poles in the park but I never felt worried about it before. Hopefully there will be a reaction by anti-fascist Poles to counter this and to contain the problem. The park is very much used by orthodox Jewish families from the area, and has always felt so friendly.
Other Polish people will have more access to the bad guys than, say, me. Hopefully they have the intelligence, that would be very difficult for those without the language and cultural connections, to obtain. Then let the police take over.
I am really struggling to get my head around this one. Is this a planned strategy to claim Markfield Park for neo Nazis or just bored lads looking for a violent gang to join? Either way the community has an excellent record of dealing with this nonsense: when the EDL tried to march in Walthamstow a couple of years ago hundreds of nice local people just sat in the road and prevented it and then went home again, job done. Let's do the same again.
Update on the BBC account here - just adds a pic of the vigil at the Town Hall.
From talking to some of the people at that gathering, there's a regular underground-ish meeting of Polish fascists in Markfield, that clashed with the music festival. I really really hope this doesn't turn into an ongoing face-off between them and Antifa. There's a party planned for Saturday at 3pm, in a They Shall Not Pass spirit.
I only saw one councillor that I recognised at the vigil (may have missed other new ones). Where were they, especially locals from Seven Sisters ward? This needs a multi-agency response, not just police.
