Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Following on from the theme that was set by this post about our super neighbourhood, I wonder if we can collectively create some posts that note the new, the lovely, the quirky and/or interesting as we walk around it.

Just a snapshot on a phone and a reason why it caught your eye or made you smile.

Sometimes (and I am as guilty of this as anyone) we can focus too much on the things that bother us or that are wrong. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, and I would always say a picture is worth a thousand words when trying to get a problem solved.

But here's the idea - take a picture...

...of something you've found on the street that makes you smile. Maybe it's a work of street art. Or maybe it's evidence of an act of kindness. Or maybe it's just something that's accidentally beautiful.

Or maybe it's a flower that's been sleeping all winter and is now giving its all. Or a glimpse of the past that reminds you of Harringay's origins. Or a new thing you've never tried before from one of the local shops. Or...hey you get the picture. Get snapping...

Here's my nomination. Any fans of the H G Wells The Door in the Wall will know why I can't pass this door in the Harringay Passage without a little flight of fancy about what might lay behind it.

This wasn't strictly on a street, but it was on the wall when I took the wallpaper down to redecorate at the weekend. It appears my house was built in 1893, that's pretty interesting to think someone painted that on there all those years ago and it still remains, hidden under the wallpaper.

Brilliant!

I love the way some plants can thrive in pretty improbable places - there are loads you see walking round Harringay.

Big Red Ted

One of my planters on Tiverton road is looking very country cottage! :-) not bad for a novice gorilla gardener.
