Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A visit to the last ever Greyhound Racing at Walthamstow - a taste of Harringay of yesteryear

Walthamstow Greyound track is about to go the same way as Harringay - instead of a supermarket, a housing developer's about to get his hands on their track.

The last race ever is running this Saturday. It just occurred to me that I've never been greyhound racing and once Walthamstow closes London will have only one track - perhaps the sport's about to die out. I'm thinking it might be fun to go - get a taste of a dwindling sport and get some sense of what a Saturday night in Harringay might have felt like a few decades ago. Having only just thunk this, I just looked up when the last race is only to find out that it's this Saturday and their website suggest that it might be busy.

Anyone feel a bit inclined?

So, are you going to the "last run" in the end?
No, sadly not. I've been humping railway sleepers about all afternoon and so whilst my spirit is eager, my flesh says veg-out.
So last run is gone forever...
or is it?
