Hi there
We are a young family that will potentially be moving to the Ladder to a property on Lausanne Road and I really just wanted to ask a few questions with regards to the area.
I have read through a number of the threads here over the weekend and with a child on the way I wanted some information on safety and security in the area.
From living in Canary Wharf (for the past 8 years) in a 24 hour ported area with CCTV everywhere, myself and my wife wouldn't think twice about walking home in the late hours of the evening and neither of us had any security concerns about staying home alone.
Moving to a potential garden flat I just wanted to ask you all if you have had any issues with break-in's especially via the back of the property and possibly what security you have in your property to deter potential criminals?
What route is the safest late in the evenings walking from Turnpike Lane, is there any roads that people tend to avoid (if walking to Lausanne Road?)
Any help or information here would be much appreciated.
Hi,
I’ve been living in the area for about a year now in a garden flat.
We’ve never had any issues but I was told by our neighbour that few years ago someone broke into our flat via front door.
It seems to me that the area is well looked after by police 24/7 and once my partner talked to them about the risk of breaking into a flat via garden and they have advised him that they’ve had couple of cases last year.
I think Harringay ladder is a great place to live, I love Alexandra Park, Green lanes and Crouch end is a great place for going out for a meal or drink… Turnpike lane st. is a bit rough, seen few young folks getting high in the park but never had any issues when passing by or crossing the park in late evening hours…Probably should avoid crossing the park thou.
So overall I didn’t experience any troubles in the area, only heard about some….
Hope this will help a little
