Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Kebabs are great but wouldn't it be nice to have some more proper fish and chip shops in the area?

There is one coming very soon,

Fingers crossed.

exciting, where?

I will have to keep quite until i get more information.

Very sorry , but hope it will go ahead.

There was talk of one on the former Obergine, but that's now to be Bun & Bar.

Thats correct,

Obergine is Bun & Bar,

I have been told the village will be fish and chips. Next to Dostlar

I couldn't keep my mouth shut :)

Looks to be resolutely Turkish cuisine to me, walking past it yesterday.

unless it's near Turnpike Lane it probably won't make much difference to me.  George's near the Salisbury is the closest or George's on Tottenham Lane which is the best just a little too far to get them home hot!  I want walking distance, and good quality with proper chips - not too much to ask is it?

they should close down that horror-show Sunny Beach and open up a nice fish and chip restaurant...

Not walking distance I know, but I like the fish & chip shop on Priory Road on that small row of shops by Nightingale Lane - Priory Fish Bar I think they are called but not sure.

v

yes, it is ok that one but not brilliant.  Thanks though, I just am bored of kebab and pizza places, I suppose what I really want is for the good fish and chip shops to do deliveries!

I don't think Harringay does that badly. There are five or six fish and chip shops within a mile or so... :

George's - St Ann's Road

Priory Fish Bar

That one in Crouch End, near the clock tower

The one on Philip Lane close to the junction with Mount Pleasant Road

Lordship Lane by Wood Green tube (excellent)

Another further down, past the Crown Court..

Not bad choice really...

Sadly, Crouch End one has closed - the rates/rents were too high apparently.

Ratio of kebab to chip shops must be high though, no?  15:1 I'd estimate...

Ideally, there'd be a good one near Turnpike Lane or Westbury Avenue :o)

yes the one near the clocktower closed recenly   also the kebab shop further along that side of Tottenham Lane's f&c were quite good but they have gone too - no doubt helped on their way by the vitriol poured on them about their fascia which was certainly no more unsightly than so many others.   what happened to council control?
