Thames Water will be undertaking major sewer works outside 29 to 39 Burgoyne Road N4. These works are scheduled to take place from 21 of October 2013 to 23 March 2014. Burgoyne Road will be closed from number 16 to 48 and will be made into two-way traffic road.
Thames Water will be undertaking major sewer works outside 25 to 27 Umfreville Road N4. These works are scheduled to take place from 14 October 2013 to 19 February 2014, and will involve the use of parking bay suspensions to allow for the flow of traffic..

As I typed the above post, the road has been re-opened, but is very narrow.

Update: Burgoyne Road will be closed again mid-Jan for a couple of weeks, according to the Project Lead Arthur Googans.
Reason for works: Pollution of rivers with domestic waste
When the Victorians built the sewers, they built two - one for run-off and one for waste water. They connected the run-off water sewers (rainwater) and the waste water (domestic waste) so that if the domestic waste sewer overflowed, it went into the run-off water in order to avoid flooding houses.
Due to increasing amounts to hard landscaping, there is more run-off water than ever before and when the waste water goes into it, the rivers are getting polluted. So they are building holding tanks to avoid this situation.
The holding tank under Burgoyne Road will be approx 15m by 2m.

Burgoyne closed again so that they can dig a hole half the width of the road from almost the alley up to the bridge. This is to put in holding tanks for the excess water from the New River. Not sure how long it will be closed. Not good for the people who live on the North West side of the road or opposite. Very quiet for the rest of us.
And there was a film crew today filming a pilot programme along the Passage - it's all happening on Burgoyne Road...

A few weeks ago Umfreville and Burgoyne residents received a circular letter from Thames Water that said (from memory, no longer have it) that the technique used to sink the hole in Umfreville had been changed to one that produced less vibration. From which I deduce that residents opposite where the work's being done had complained to Thames Water. Anyone confirm?

I agree with Justine, lots more traffic on Duckett plus more cyclists riding up the road instead of down. I've seen a near miss between an Addison Lee cab and a cyclist (cyclist was going the wrong way and the Addy Lee was going at speed down duckett).
