Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Thought it would be helpful to let residents know about parking restrictions over the Christmas and New Year period

Bank Holiday parking
Bank Holiday and Public Holiday Parking Enforcement

What is 'bank holiday enforcement'?

On bank holidays and public holidays, free parking is available in all on-street pay and display parking bays and in all open council car parks.

Vehicles parked within a Controlled Parking Zone are not required to display a valid resident permit or visitor permit when parking in resident or shared used use bays within the borough on these days.

There are some exceptions to this rule and the following restrictions remain enforceable:

Double Yellow Line restrictions and those with 24 hour loading restrictions
Footway Parking
Disabled Bays
Bus Stops
Taxi Ranks/Bays
Zigzags (ie pedestrian crossings)
Please note that we will not enforce a vehicle that is observed on a single yellow line unless the line falls within match day restrictions for Arsenal or Spurs - in this case normal enforcement rules and restrictions apply.

Dates Enforcement

24 December Normal enforcement
25 December Bank holiday enforcement
26 December Bank holiday enforcement

Matchday restrictions apply (Spurs playing at home: 3pm KO Tottenham Match Day)

27-31 December Normal enforcement
1 January 2014 Bank holiday enforcement

Matchday restrictions apply (Arsenal playing at home: 3pm KO Finsbury Park)

2 January 2014 onwards Normal enforcement

Thanks Karen!

Thanks Karen, that is really useful. We get to this time of year and always scrabble to answer this question.

The thing to remember folks is Christmas Eve is not a bank holiday.... Pity the council could not call the dogs off for one day though. It would make a lot of people's lives easier.

have they lifted the parking restrictions in crouch end this year for christmas shopping, i am sure they did it last year, encourages people to use the local shops.

Anyway thanks for this info, xmas day, boxing day and new year only. And I always wondered about disabled bays and now I know.

Seasonal greetings everyone.

It's half price if you pay by phone in pay and display bays in high streets.

We Iwould have liked to see free parking in the run up to Christmas, other boroughs have done it to help businesses and residents This is on top of our campaign for 30 minutes free parking on all high streets, all year round.
Just to clarify, it's only half price parking Saturdays and Sundays in December. See here

oh i had always avoided paying by phone, i only park for short periods and resented the  cost of a text or  phone call. Did not realise there was an app and i could do it online. I have downloaded it and registered so will try it out.
