Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi HoLiers,

Hope you all had a great weekend. We had an incredibly busy first week back last week. Park View students made us so proud at their willingness and eagerness to make John Loughborough students feel welcome. They are settling in nicely and so are our new Year 7s. We have started Lift Off this week, this is part of our tradition to make Year 7s feel welcome and settled.

Year 11 students and got the chance to meet Rev Jesse Jackson at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre.

Park View pupil Bilal Hussein said: “It was very inspirational it was an honour to be part of history in Tottenham.”

Kaliegh Johnson added: “I am going to be part of change today because I can, I must, I will.”

Tanisha Lawrence, pictured with rev Jackson and her twin sister Ianisha, said: “There are no excuses; be proactive and stand up and fight for what is right.”

Rohann Ernest,  Year 11 team deputy, said: “It was a moment in history to be in the presence of a true legend of black history. His message and spirit was still as strong as ever.”

Eric Edwards, the school’s deputy head teacher, added: “It was a fabulous opportunity for young people in Tottenham to see and hear one of the most powerful, iconic living legends champion the call for equality and justice in the UK and Tottenham.”

We will be using the ideas and subject matter as part of their studies around Black History Month in October. Read the full article in the Tottenham Journal.
