Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

"One of the best cups of coffee in north London": Congratulations Blend

Photo: Hugh Flouch

From a review of Blend just published on ViewLondon: "Who would have thought that one of the best cups of coffee to be found in north London would come from a café on Green Lanes? Café Blend is helping to drive the Haringey community into the spotlight for all the right reasons."

Well done guys - much deserved.

It's still cheaper than cafe's in Crouch End, where many of Blend's customers would have ventured before it opened. And the quality is very good, not to mention all 'home made'.

Just over £4 at the National Theatre for cake and cappuccino - delicious it was too. We certainly don't want Crouch End prices here 'sweetie heart darling' - where they happily pay over the odds because it makes them feel special.

I refuse to pay these silly prices in Crouch End.  Pick your coffee house carefully!

I paid £4 for a coffee and a slice of cheese cake.  I have been searching for ages for proper German or Polish baked cheesecake and find it's either too dry or too creamy.  This is just right - and not too sweet either. I said so to Linda and she gave me the recipe.  It's worth checking her other recipes out here:

Thanks for sharing this link Kamila. I'm a big fan of Linda's recipes and cooking, so it's great to get an insight to some of her inspiration and to have the opportunity to try some German recipes at home.

I find Blend to be really good value, with flat white costing me only £2.00 compared to £2.60 of Soho where I work and £2.30/£2.40 of Crouch End/Muswell Hill where we used to live before. Plus they make caffe' freddo and the cakes are home-made and really tasty. What's not to like about it?? Can't wait to try their savoury dishes.

I DON'T BELIEVE IT ..... When I popped into Blend last Friday and met Hugh and HoL's tame computer buff Marek, as I walked out I caught a familiar face out of the corner my eye, none other than Councillor Nilgun Canver.  I stopped and had a quick word with her as there is a planning issue around the proposed demolition of the old 1864 entrance to South Tottenham Station.  For those who don't know me I'm one of the bods who's lobbied for the improvements to the GO-B line for eons.

Imagine my surprise today at the front page of the Ham & High, she's in Court for Perverting the Course of Justice.  From a quick read I must stress this was only a preliminary hearing so we should not discuss the detail of this further in any depth, BUT ........... She's resigned her Council Exec Position, so we shall see what happens!
