Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all,

we're wondering about getting various pieces of work done on our house including a side return extension and possibly a conservatory. Thing is we haven't a clue where to start when it comes to planning etc. Would people recommend going to an architect first and if so who? Also are there any useful resources online as to how to navigate the planning process, assuming we need to go through it?

cheers

Phil

Did you see there's another architecht thread started today? I've tagged your post.

Try the interactive house on planning portal website in the first instance for planning advice. It's quite helpful in terms of what you can build within your permitted development rights. For a local architect try edwardbennett.info

Do you have a link for that?

you could try Pam Stokes at http://www.architects-hertfordshire.co.uk.  Ive just used Pam to do my drawings for an extension.  She offers an initial free consultation where you can discuss building reg requirements etc as well as your thoughts for the project.

I found her really helpful and informative and her prices are reasonable too.  She was recommended to me by Cem from Sketch a firm of structural engineers that I approached having seen them recommended on here.
