Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

In January we reported on an application made by Harringay's Green Lanes traders for a further £40,000 to create a new pocket park for Harringay. (Full description further down in the thread).

Today the London Mayor's office has announced that the local bid has been successful and we will be getting the funding from the Pocket Parks programme.

So, that's another big pat on the back for Rob Tao of the Traders' association!

Thomas, they're two different schemes. Rob was the driver of the Green Lanes scheme.

We're talking about Stanley Rd open space bid. Several bids but Only two projects were successful. I'm ever so grateful that we have an excellent partnership with our traders and the glory for the Harringay GL bid goes to Rob. He did lead on it.

Thanks Pavlos. Great to hear from you.

Whoever put in the work well done.....I'm sure as with all things council related it was a collective effort. Cllr Nilgun if we can now reduce / remove the social clubs that blight West Green Road at the top of Stanley Road the area will be on the up!

By the way, We've just refused an application from one and just gone to appeal.

Cllr Canver if we can now reduce / remove the social clubs that blight West Green Road at the top of Stanley Road the area will be on the up!

I agree. The intention is to replicate our success on GL there but we need traders like Shef and Rob to work with. Working on it. A new one is opening there today. The owner is a Cllr in Enfield. I have high hopes on him for building strong partnerships. We're working on it.

Hi

We are moving to Stanley Road soon, when is this likely to happen?  It's great news - thank you.

Are there any better dwgs available - I can't work out what is going to be provided - It looks fantastic whatever the work is. Great News for once! Well done Rob for making the effort.

Good question. Attached image is the biggest I have - click and click again to see it full size (Original image replaced with this one also). Beneath the image I've aded here is a description of the park from the bid submission.

At the Salisbury Pub junction, we propose to make a piece of generous public realm that would provide an opportunity to pause, relax and for social engagement along the busy High Street.

Further along at Allison Road, Haringey United Church is set back behind a mixture of boundary treatments and does not take advantage of its prominent corner location. By improving these boundary treatments through ‘greening’ and a new illuminated sign, we aim to celebrate this important asset as well inform people of others close by such as ‘New River’ walk.

Between these two junctions, extensive tree planting and a planted ‘Arbor’ will provide a green corridor and a planted promenade along which to walk and enjoy the many shops.

Oh goody! an illuminated sign ! Just what we need in a green corridor

I don't think it's an illuminated sign. It's planned as an insect hotel, spelling out 'New River'.
